The Stone Barn takeaway & casual dining
The Stone Barn Takeaway is a great example of a business adapting to suit these unprecedented times during the COVID-19 pandemic. Stone Barn is usually a busy wedding venue, with one of its star USPs being indoor BBQ catering, but they’ve adapted to offer the public their legendary, flame cooked BBQ food, Friday to Sunday while wedding’s are off. We had our first taste of the food at Stone Barn when our friends and wine aficionado’s @bottlenecked got married here in 2019. The sharing boards of steak, crispy roast potatoes and beautifully dressed salad left us in awe for days, so when the team behind Stone Barn got in touch to invite us over to hear about how they’re adapting to the ‘new normal’, we jumped at the chance for a nearly normal food bloggers day out!
Stone Barn is a pleasant 30 min drive outside of Cheltenham, towards Burford. You can picnic, take away or dine in and then walk it off afterwards along one of the public footpaths from the venue. You can just about see one of the paths in the image at the top of this post. The team are super friendly and can provide you with everything you need to eat on site if needed althought feel free to bring your own picnic equipment and blankets. We opted for the take away meal and ate onsite outside and borrowed cutlery.
On the Menu
Food is available all weekend and you can choose from meals like this: (ranging from £8)
- Rotisserie chicken, fries, salad, garlic or tarragon mayo
- Buttermilk chicken burger, fries, chipotle mayo
- Barbecued sirloin brick of beef, fries, Sales, peppercorn sauce
- BBQ leg of lamb, feta salad, flat breads and yogurt dressing
- Quinoa, avocado and sourdough salad (add goats cheese, chorizo, prawns)
Your meal doesn’t have to stop there as they also do puds for just £4:
- Chocolate brownie, double cream
- Sticky toffee pudding, caramel sauce, double cream
- Meringue, cream, mixed berries

We chose a BBQ box of a range of meats, as we like to try a bit of everything if we can. Here’s a peak into the special BBQ boxes we ordered for £12.50…
Above you can see flame cooked chicken thigh, steak, chorizo sausage nestled under the fries. We can’t stress enough how tasty and juicy the meat was! Stone Barn is renowned for it’s excellent catering options for it’s weddings and use of outstanding quality produce, so naturally this was going to be the case for their takeaway options too! We washed it all down with a bottle of Brewdog!
