Curious Café on Bath Road is a favourite of mine. The shop itself is quaint and situated right in the heart of Bath Road.
The two eating areas are split by the kitchen and counter and they have enough tables for possibly 25-28 inside and if the weather is good enough the same outside.
The staff are fantastic, always courteous and friendly even when they’re rushed off their feet. Whenever I have been I’ve never had bad service, food or coffee.
Now to the food. I’m a creature of habit. Blacksmiths breakfast, no tomato every time. It’s pictured below. In fact I was given extra bacon to replace the tomato which was a pretty nice addition.
All the food tastes great. I believe it’s all as local as they can get it – probably apart from the hash browns, beans and black pudding. I love a runny egg – tick. I love crispy bacon – tick. I love a thick and chunky sausage – tick.
Last time we went Helen created her own breakfast (below) and again, it looks amazing and tasted excellent. The poached eggs were exactly as they should be, soft but cooked through with a runny yolk.
I’m kind of glad we no longer live within a 10 minute walk of this place as I would be in there more often (which wouldn’t be great for the waistline).
Overall Curious Café is a great place to go for a breakfast, often we stroll in at 11 or so for more of a brunch. Oh man, now I want to go back this weekend!
